Program Description – Tic Toc
Tic Toc, offered since 1985, is the largest component of Family Nurturing Center’s Child Abuse Treatment Services.  This 12-week therapeutic program is offered during evening hours, typically on Mondays at a church in the Latonia area.  Children and adults meet in 90-minute sessions led by Master’s level therapists.  Within each Tic Toc program, separate and distinct components occur.  Five different Tic Toc therapeutic groups for children, i.e., preschoolers, boys, girls, siblings, and adolescent girls, occur within each session.  The sixth group, for non-offending parents/care-givers, is primarily one of education and support.  Children’s groups will focus on decreasing feelings of shame, guilt, and isolation; increase in identification and healthy expression of feelings related to sexual abuse; safety planning; rebuilding trust; and enhancing self-esteem.  The group for parents/caregivers will provide a forum for open communication, education, and support.  Both adult and children’s groups will address issues of intergenerational victimization, one of the most frightening facts of child Child abuse and learn strategies that promote healing and minimize the risk of future trauma.  Childcare is available on a limited basis for siblings/children under the age of four.

Program Description – Tic Toc (Individual/Family Sessions) in Rural Counties

Individual/Family Sessions are offered in lieu of groups, for child victims of sexual abuse and their non-offending family members, in the rural counties and has two components: a therapeutic support/counseling component and a psycho-educational component; covering Tic Toc curriculum content.  Sessions are structured and time limited to 8-12 sessions.  Referrals are being accepted for services currently, and there is not a set “start” time.

Social and healthy coping skills groups are ten week psycho-educational groups for children with a history of abuse/trauma (physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse/neglect and witness to domestic violence). Important topics are covered including: learning coping skills to manage overwhelming feelings, identification of abusive behaviors, safety planning and increasing self-image. Groups are provided both on site at the Family Nurturing Center and in community based agencies and/or locations based on referrals and client needs.

Case Management Services are available for children and families on an as needed basis to help connect families with other needed resources.

Registration
Services are open to residents of any county.  Participants are approved via a face to face clinical assessment to determine the appropriateness of services.    Snacks are routinely provided in all group services.
